What if education was free?

Question: Should education be free for everyone ?

To make a starting point, most countries have already implemented this culture/system and honestly, it has gained positive results. I think that the most exemplary country with this ongoing is Germany which actually provides a total free, no-fee education to absolutely every single human being there regardless their race or where they're from for all levels of studying :) great, happy-learning.

Personally, I know some people right here in Malaysia who didn't have a chance to study at all due to family financial problems etc. A boy I know with this such problem began schooling at Year 4/5 and he had missed a lot of learning within classes and so he wasn't as developed as the other kids, the thing is I know that he's a bright kid and it was really sad to hear that he missed out on schooling due to "Highlight: Financial" problems.

I honestly see no problem in making education free, especially for primary schooling. Primary school helps in developing a child's brain and thoughts, maybe people don't agree with the teaching system in Malaysia now but nevertheless a child should learn, even the basic things would do.
My dad works in an orphanage and home for the poor (girls only), and I go there sometimes to meet up with the girls there and it's such a sad feeling to see that some of these girls have not yet learnt to read even at the age of 9. Why? Because of financial problems, and some of transportation.

It might be a shock if the system suddenly put out a notice for free-education in all levels, and surely it will cause a riot within the people. In my opinion I would say to take it slow, open up some community schools (specifically primary learning) for free-education, first make it open only to those who absolutely can't afford it, then if it goes on well make it expand to more than that. Free-education shouldn't be a problem if what we aim is to produce brighter students for our future. We've got a lot of sustenance to make it happen, so how about a little sacrifice for the sake of a brighter future lead by the children of this generation.

I mean, why not? :) cheerio
